HISTORY: MCU Wiki
PERSONALITY: Steve Rogers is a man who most would argue does not exist. Since his time, we as a culture have become increasingly cynical and pessimistic. When faced with someone so simply and inherently good, we search for the catch, for that single tiny flaw to derail his credibility. And if it isn't there, we imagine it into existence, because suspicion is the only response to earnest behavior that we know. We also accept that concepts such as honesty, integrity, and selflessness are long dead; in the present day, every man is out for himself. This is the world in which Steve Rogers awakes, and it is the reason why he subsequently has such trouble adjusting.

Steve isn't deluded: he knows that his own era was far from perfect. But being an idealist and an optimist, he had hoped that he was working toward a greater tomorrow. Now, he has to live in that imagined future, and it's nothing like he expected; the difference that he wanted to make isn't reflected at all in today's America. It's fitting that he was fished from the sea, because relative to the modern world, Steve is a fish out of water. His spirit broken, Steve appears to have finally given up in this strange new world. He divides all of his time between the gym, training for a fight that is already won, and in his apartment, furnished to resemble a home from seven decades ago. A core trait of Steve's personality, however, is that he is relentless. He never gave up as a kid, when he was bullied, nor as a man, when he was at war. Admittedly, after waking from the ice, he was lost, but it took a lot to slow him down. It takes significantly less to reignite his passion for helping people when S.H.I.E.L.D. comes knocking.

Part of Steve will always be that skinny kid from Brooklyn, and it's because he remembers being pushed around that he won't stand for bullying of any kind. He knows all too well those feelings of doubt and insecurity, fear and helplessness, and much of his motivation comes from having been in that position and now having the power to defend others. But there were also times during the war when he was driven purely by revenge after his best friend Bucky was killed, and it took Coulson dying for all of the Avengers to play nice with each other, Steve included. He may be old-fashioned but he is not old, and grandpa jokes aside, he doesn't have an awful lot of experience to fall back on. Like anyone, he is bound to make some mistakes. What Steve understands that others don't is that, like everything else worthwhile in life, being good takes hard work. As someone who chased his dreams until they came true, he understands hard work, and now that he has what he wanted, he's determined to continue earning it. Unlike other heroes, Steve's ascension to power was no accident. His abilities were given to him because someone recognized that understood its worth and would put it to good use. That's all that Steve Rogers does, really — he puts his power to good use.

PERSONALITY REVISION:

Hello! Here is the personality expansion:

Steve is uncompromising. It is one of his very best characteristics, but it can also be his downfall. He grew up during the Great Depression as the chronically ill son of an immigrant single mother, learning firsthand how unfair life is. Then the Second World War broke out and he learned how some use life's unfairness to excuse their own sins. At war, he witnessed men dehumanize the enemy and civilians alike as a means to justify their own depravity. These experiences informed Steve's understanding of cruelty as a slippery slope and strengthened his moral conviction such that he is unwilling to compromise on matters of morality.

When Steve learned that HYDRA had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. at the highest level, he recognized immediately what others were reluctant to admit: that a system corrupt enough to allow HYDRA to grow unchecked could not be salvaged. He also never compromised on the dubious ethics of Project Insight; he saw the remote surveillance program as a threat to liberty from the moment he learned about it and nearly gave his life to keep it from becoming operational. For Steve, these decisions were almost easy compared to the Sokovia Accords. He never disagreed with the general idea of oversight for The Avengers; when he still believed in S.H.I.E.L.D. he was willing to operate under its governance. But Steve was immediately suspicious of the Accords, fearing that they could threaten the civil rights of enhanced individuals. Refusing to sign put him at odds with roughly half of The Avengers and was not a choice he made lightly. But because he genuinely believed it was the right path, Steve stood by his decision, even when it meant that he had to fight members of his own team.

Steve is a man with a well-defined moral compass but that does not mean that he is always justified. His commitment to doing what he believes is right can sometimes cloud his ability to consider other perspectives. The Accords are a perfect example, because once his mind was made up he never wavered. Still, he never enjoyed being at odds with his team and even tried to push himself toward signing the Accords, until he learned that Wanda Maximoff had been placed on house arrest without a trial.

Morally speaking, protecting Bucky Barnes was also question of due process. After all, Steve's request for a lawyer prompted a laugh from a CIA liaison. But deep down protecting Bucky was a purely emotional choice for Steve. A staunchly loyal man, he makes friends for life and would go to the ends of the earth for the people he holds dear. But when a terrible secret created friction between Steve's loyalty to two friends, he made one of his greatest mistakes by betraying Tony Stark's trust. He admitted later that it was a selfish choice to protect his oldest friend, Bucky, and to avoid losing his friendship with Tony. For this, Steve will likely never forgive himself. He holds himself to a very high standard and is not quick to forgive his failures.

CRAU: N/A

SPECIES: Human
APPEARANCE: Image Link
SKILLS: Hand-to-hand combat, dramatic acrobatics, dangerous frisbeeing, and battle strategy.

NEW POWER: Ability transfer. The initial expression of this would require that Steve make physical contact in order to transfer his serum-given abilities to another person.
POWER REASONING: Anyone can be injected with an experimental serum, but what makes Steve special is who he is underneath that: the little guy who understands the value of power. He puts his faith in people and does his best work when he is motivating others to achieve their full potential. The ability to transfer his abilities to others is an extension of his work as leader of The Avengers and a chance to explore a very different kind of positive impact he can have on others.
