Powers —
Skills: Steve is a born leader and master tactician, gifted at off-the-cuff motivational speeches and experienced with adapting to changing circumstances and environments.
Superpowers: Super soldier with enhanced strength, speed, agility, and resilience. His accelerated metabolism makes him immune to inebriation and resistant to toxins (up to a point).
Limitations: Accepting that he even has limitations. He has a tendency to stretch himself to and beyond his limits, but he does have them. He is also stubborn to a fault which can at times blind him to the necessity of compromise.
Personality —
Steve Rogers is uncompromising. It is one of his very best characteristics, but it can also be his downfall. He grew up during the Great Depression as the chronically ill son of an immigrant single mother, learning firsthand how unfair the world is. Then the Second World War broke out and he learned how some use life's unfairness to excuse their own sins. At war, he witnessed men dehumanize the enemy and civilians alike as a means to justify their own depravity. These experiences informed Steve's understanding of cruelty as a slippery slope and strengthened his moral conviction such that he is unwilling to compromise on matters of morality.
A strategist who honed his skills in wartime, Steve is always thinking ahead and considering outcomes both good and bad. When Steve learned that HYDRA had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. at the highest level, he recognized immediately what others were reluctant to admit: that a system corrupt enough to allow HYDRA to grow unchecked could not be salvaged. He also never compromised on the dubious ethics of Project Insight; he saw the remote surveillance program as a threat to liberty from the moment he learned about it and nearly gave his life to keep it from becoming operational.
Growing up scrawny, sick, and poor, Steve started off as the little guy that others liked to bully. But Steve always stood up to bullies, no matter how many times it proved to be a losing battle. "I can do this all day," he says again and again, beaten, bruised, shaking on his own to feet but still standing. Whether out of stubbornness or sheer force of will, Steve is relentless.
Not all of Steve's qualities are heroic. Sometimes, he can be so set in his convictions that he fails to truly consider other perspectives. Steve is a prime example of the "I'll keep all my emotions right here... and then one day I'll die" mentality. As a sick child, he no doubt learned quickly how to put on a brave face for his mother. He had to develop a thick skin to face the bullies around every corner. And frankly, is there anyone among us who would know how to process losing seven decades of time in a healthy manner? Besides, Steve Rogers has a responsibility as Captain America, and a leader must be able to instill confidence. So Steve has learned to keep a very tight seal on his emotions, and few ever glimpse behind the reassuring facade he presents.

Gameplay —
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming: This setting will be immensely frustrating to Steve because he is coming to it during a mission to reverse his most consequential failure. His way of dealing with said failure was to focus on helping others cope with loss, all the while avoiding his own issues. So naturally I want to force him to confront those issues and use any available game mechanics or plot devices to make that happen. Steve has spent the past five years more or less retired from superheroing and this setting is perfect for forcing him back into it without resolving the whole Thanos trauma. I'm also looking forward to playing with more classic tropes of the superhero genre and exposing him to heroes and villains from different universes.
