She first made his acquaintance outside of the video exhibit room where Peggy Carter's magnified face was projected on one wall and her crisp voice echoed in surround-sound. With a knowing look in her eye, Elsa confided that her husband had worked long hours as part of the Smithsonian custodial staff, and volunteering was her way of feeling closer to him. Steve didn't have to ask, then, if she knew who he was. He hopes she wasn't too disappointed in him after the break-in.
